Dreamers and Drifters/Ozark Mountain Press Releases

---BREAKING NEWS---

Two new Blue Owl albums! See liner notes below!

RELEASED JUNE 6, 2001---

Mike Maloney - Dreamers and Drifters
As I write this paragraph, it's been just about two years since my first release (Science and Leisure, 1999). To me, Dreamers and Drifters is a much more personalized album, meaning that many of the lyrics reference actual themes and occurrences in my life at the time of its release. The title itself reflects a winding road of aging - one that represents uncertainty about reaching a goal of a harmonious life or a sense of satisfaction. As for the instrumentation, I can only say that I was looking for sounds that struck me as interesting. I hope that you'll take an interest as well, and enjoy listening to this album. Farewell.

Miqûe - Ozark Mountain
Miqûe [my-cue] journey's to the northern highlands and its peak, Ozark Mountain. Miqûe normally stays in the Moldavian forest hiking daily through its paths observing its hunkery dunkery. Sometimes he gets into a little hunkery dunkery himself, like when he slept in old Sara Nags cottage and she came back from her hermitage early. She'll never let him forget that one. Mique doesn't sleep anywhere in particular but mainly under cone trees. Hiking Ozark mountain is Miqûe's idea of a break, though rigorous, but unassuming Mique doesn't know what's to come. Nor, do you.
~ David A. Townsend

9 April 2001

Site's been down for a week, here's why....

Well, it's about time. There has been no Blue Owl Site in more than a week, and many apologies for that. There are still issues to be worked out, but not to worry. An extensive amount of lyrics are being assembled and will be available soon.

All the sound clips are in fact not available. This is getting out of hand. We'll be in touch.

2 April 2001

Audio updated

Well, I dont believe it myself, but all of the old audio clips are uploaded, with a great deal more to come. Nonetheless there is an excellent cross-section of Blue Owl Records represented in the AUDIBLES section. Please, do enjoy.

16 March 2001

Video capture hardware arrives!

Computer all better, and video equipment has arrived. However, the machine isn't ready for digital video just yet, it should be a while yet.

More good news. The samples for every song listed in the AUDIBLES section were ready for upload when they got deleted from a local machine. Very sad. Oh well. The video is going to be awesome, so please be patient, kind and dedicated fans.

26 February 2001

Dead Computer part 2

I really am sick of killing my computer, yet I can't seem to stop doing it. As my confidence level rises, so does the risk to all the important data on the machine.

The audio streams in the AUDIBLES section are a great way to acqaint yourself with Blue Owl Records. The hardware to digitize video will arrive shortly, as will the video clips to this site. Come back and watch...

15 February 2001

General Site updates

The first significant update of the new year. Pitiful...

Little things: if you Add to Favorites now in Internet Explorer, a little Blue Owl icon will represent us. Nice touch! Some new links in the OTHER... section.

It had been a long time coming, but streaming real audio is now available in the AUDIBLES section. Give a listen and download the mp3 version of the samples.

Streaming video is next, so stay tuned!

Dead Computer update

Goodness gracious. For whatever reason, the webmaster decided that he was skilled enough to upgrade his computer, himself, with an additional hard drive. Needless to say, the whole darn system was in a state of extreme confusion for a while, not even booting Windows. Very ugly. But...

He figured it out, everything is fine, in fact, the computer is so muscled out now that some serious video editing capabilities and whatnot is a palpable reality. Expect some video clips available exclusively through blueowlrecords.com from the annals of the Blue Owl catalog very soon.

8 August 2000

Digitization of Blue Owl audio

We're just truckin' along with the mass digitization of the entire Blue Owl catalog. Currently, there is about 8 gigabytes of audio files, around 3/5's of the total discography, to sort through and polish and hone and shine and sparkle and present for you, our eager yet patient listening public. It is this labor of love that maintains our heading. The genesis of the Blue Owl STORY has been presented for you, as well as a descriptive SIGHTS section that heads on back through the years. The RealAudio formats of the newly-digitized songs have finally been uploaded to the SOUNDS section. Thanks for checking in!
